Christmas Cheer 2025
The Calvert Shop with a Cop program volunteers did a great job again this year! Our volunteer Dagmar is pictured at the ready to hand out the 39 Christmas Stocking bags to the program’s youth participants.
Fresh Start 2025
And…that’s a wrap! Fresh Start 2025 has ended. 65 families participated in the program this year. When I first started the backpack program in 2009, I never imagined it would grow into something this big. To date, 2,251 backpacks have been distributed to students in Calvert County. I’m excited to work on my vision for the next chapter of Operation Backpack – helping even more families get excited about and prepared for going back to school.
There are many to thank for this year’s program: Calvert Library and the Judy Center for attending the distribution and sharing information with families, Help Association, Inc. for the grant, SMECO and IBEW Local Union 24 for their Bronze Sponsorships, Sneade’s Ace Home Center, Inc. and Bayside Auto Group for their Community Partner Sponsorships, Jetmore Insurance Group, Inc. for their continued support and our distribution volunteers Gwendolyn Mackall Brooks, Dan, Daniel and Patty King, Candace Milcarzyk and Corben Brandner.
On December 7, 2024, we “wrapped up” 2024 by donating 39 Christmas stocking bags to the Calvert Shop with a Cop program through our Christmas Cheer Program
